Sporting has begun building for the future with Tasos Delimpaltadakis. The Patissia-based club announced an agreement with the highly experienced basketball executive for the next three years.

Sporting announced its agreement with Tasos Delimpaltadakis on Thursday afternoon (2/4).

The historic Patissia-based club, which is making a strong return to Greek basketball under a new administration led by Mike Evmorfidis, has entered a new era with the goal of competing in the national leagues during the 2026/27 season and gradually returning to the highest level.

Tasos Delimpaltadakis, one of the most experienced and highly regarded figures in Greek basketball, with extensive experience across every level of the sport—from player to club president—has signed a three-year contract to support the vision of returning AO Sporting to the highest level.

Tasos Delimpaltadakis will oversee the men’s and women’s basketball teams, with the initial objective of building two talented rosters capable of competing for championships in the leagues in which they will participate during the 2026/27 season.

Statement by Mike Evmorfidis:

“We are very pleased to begin this partnership. Tasos Delimpaltadakis has made his mark on Greek basketball, and from now on he will be by our side with the sole objective of restoring AO Sporting to the prominence it enjoyed in the past.

This will be achieved through careful steps, hard work, determination, and a genuine love for the sport. Tasos Delimpaltadakis will support our vision—the vision of a neighborhood and the vision of building a club that embodies a healthy culture at every level. We welcome him and wish him every success”.

Statement by Tasos Delimpaltadakis:

“The vision of the Evmorfidis administration, combined with the history and culture of AO Sporting, fills me with energy and a strong sense of responsibility for the club’s future. Our goal is for this new chapter to be defined by a healthy environment, quality basketball, the development of young athletes, and a full arena in a neighborhood that, for decades, has lived and breathed basketball and celebrated the legends of the sport.

I am delighted to see the Evmorfidis family entering the world of basketball—a family that is a true asset to Greek society. I feel a responsibility to support my friend, Michalis Evmorfidis, and to make proud the executives and friends who supported me during the early stages of my professional career (A. Tasoula, G. Kolokythas, A. Fioretos, F. Daniilidis, G. Katsanos, N. Alimbrantis). From today, the work begins”.
